National Road Safety Awareness Programme organised at Modi College, Patiala
NSS and NCC wings of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized a program to mark ‘National Road Safety Month’ in collaboration with District Traffic Police under the guidance of Sh. A. R. Sharma, PPS, DSP Traffic Police, Patiala, an alumnus of Modi College was the Chief Guest. This programme was focused on the theme ‘Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Raksha’. NSS PO Dr. Harmohan Sharma introduced the Chief Guest and other guests. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar inaugurated the programme and said that it is our responsibility as citizens to obey the rules and regulations laid down by the traffic authority to reduce the death rate on the roads and for public safety.
Chief Guest Sh. A. R. Sharma motivated the students to obey the traffic rules and wear Helmet, seat belts and to control speed while driving on the road. The students took oath to obey the traffic rules.
In this programme Sh. Gurjaap Singh, ASI Traffic Police discussed about various traffic rules and the causes of death in road accidents. Sh. Kaka Ram Verma spoke about the importance of first aid during road accidents. NSS PO Dr. Rajeev Sharma discussed the theme of National Road Safety month. A pledge ceremony was also held in the programme. Sh. Sham Lal, ARTO, Sh. Jugraj Singh, Incharge City Traffic, Sh. Pal Singh from Punjab Police and large number of students were present. NCC CTO Dr. Rohit Sachdeva proposed the vote of thanks.

ਅੱਜ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ. ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਏ. ਆਰ. ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਪੀ.ਪੀ.ਐਸ., ਡੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ. ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ‘ਸੜਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜੀਵਣ-ਰੱਖਿਆ’ ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਹਰਮੋਹਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਵਾਈ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਆਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਕਰੀਏ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੌਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਘਟੇਗੀ ਬਲਕਿ ਜਨਤਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣੇਗੀ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਅਲੂਮਨੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਏ.ਆਰ. ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁਕਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੈਲਮਟ ਪਾਉਣਾ, ਸੀਟ ਬੈਲਟ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਪੀਡ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਯੰਤਰਿਤ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਮੁੱਢਲੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰੋਰਗਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰਜਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ, ਏ.ਐੱਸ.ਆਈ. ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੁੰ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖਰੇ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ, ਸੂਚਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਾਕਾ ਰਾਮ ਵਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਦੀ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ। ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਰੋਡ ਸੇਫ਼ਟੀ ਮੰਥ ਦੀ ਮਹਤੱਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਣ ਲਈ ਸਹੁੰ ਵੀ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਲਾਲ, ਏ.ਆਰ.ਟੀ.ਓ. ਸ੍ਰੀ ਜੁਗਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ, ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਸਿਟੀ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।
